Thank You Day 2023

IMM has partnered up with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH)’s GM dementia support group to set up a dementia choir. 

The Open Doors Dementia Choir aimed to unite individuals living with dementia and their caregivers in a celebration of Thank You Day. This meaningful initiative kick-started on April 18th. 

Over the following weeks, IMM delivered bi-weekly rehearsals during Open Doors support group's 'Dementia Café,' that took place at Elmwood Church in Salford. These sessions were designed to bring various activities to participants, including movement warm-ups, cool-downs and mindfulness practices.

The choir was made up of 25 members, including GMMH service users living with dementia and their devoted caregivers. 

Thank You Day took place on the 2nd of July 2023 and saw an astounding 6.3 million people take part across 1.3 million events.
