SINGING FROM THE HEART

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Singing From The Heart brings the power of music into hospitals, care homes, and community spaces for people living with or recovering from heart conditions. Working in partnership with universities, healthcare professionals, and community organisations, the programme develops evidence-based innovation around heart health - exploring how music, social connection and wellbeing intersect.
Sessions also look at breathing, lung capacity and the role of group singing in reducing isolation and supporting recovery. Patients, families, and staff take part together, transforming hospital wards and care settings into spaces of warmth, hope and collective voice.

Singing isn’t just music, it’s medicine. It improves heart health, reduces stress, enhances cognitive function, and fosters deep social connection. These sessions prove that music has the power to heal both body and mind.

Developed with music therapists and health researchers, this programme is fully accessible, inclusive, and adaptable for all abilities. Sing with us—because every heartbeat matters.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

OUR UNIVERSITY COLLABORATION

We were joined by students from the Manchester Metropolitan University who listened to our participants to find out more about what they required to make healthy changes to their lives and diet. Following this exploration, they developed recipes that support heart health.

“Through this campaign, we hope to make a meaningful impact not only on the Singing from the Heart group but also on the wider community, particularly those at higher risk of developing heart disease or looking to improving their heart health. While there is already a strong awareness of the effects of fats and salt on heart health, there is far less focus on the benefits of fibre, and how easy, affordable, and delicious it can be to include more of it in our diets! By practical resources and tasty, heart-friendly recipes, we aim to raise awareness and inspire long-term, positive changes in heart health through nutritional changes.”
